my 11 year old sister and i had a "emo talk" just now.
sister: "aye da jie, do u listen to My Chemical Romance?"
me: "err, yeah i do."
sister: "orh hor, means you are EMO KID!!!" *eyes big like marbles
me: "WHAT!? WHO TELL YOU ONE?"
sister: "I read the straits time and they say people who listen to My Chemical Romance are emo kids. My teacher told us that emo kids slash themselves with penknives, keys and scissors!"
me: "oh please that's nonsense. you can't be emo kids just by listening to them and emo kids doesn't equals to slashing yr wrists! your teacher is total shit! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHATS EMO?!"
sister: "oh, very emotional la!" *answered with such confidence.
me: "NOOOOO. emo is like......*pause for 5 secs. aiya, you won't get it anyway."
sister: "haha, you're still an emo kid!"
me: o_OOOOO *rolls my eyes.
it's amazing what primary school teachers teach the kids during lessons now, isn't it?
